Myrmarch's Tail Chapter 9Myr and Amariel had long ago left behind the sounds of battle, though an occasional skirmish could be heard through some hallways. So far the path Amariel had been pointing out had been free of opponents, but they had yet to find the Sorcerer. Up to now, adrenaline had allowed him to ignore his injuries, but as the lack of action sank in, the adrenaline was wearing off, forcing him to slow down.
::C'mon Myr! Were almost there!:: He nodded and put on a little more speed. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow detach itself from the wall, but it moved too fast for him to react. The flat of a large blade slammed into his shins, and Myr fell. Mariel cried out once, and then dissapeared from veiw, but Myr couldn't pay attention to her as the heavy sword started back down. Myr twisted and shoved the rod in the way. The contact of the two weapons sent jolts through Myrs arms, but he shook it off and slammed the bars into the shadows shins and popped to his feet. Myr sniffed, and took a
Three Freinds Chapter 2Chapter 2: Freinds
Jed sat down. His hands hurt from slamming an iron pole against a tree for the past hour. He had found this place during one of his "episodes" as Tory called them, the times when he was just feeling so angry at the world for what happened to his parents, and he had to just get away from everyone.
It was a large empty warehouse that had been abandoned for years. It had a large tree growing up through the floor, and he always came here, when he got feeling like this.
He leaned his head against the tree, and closed his eyes, thinking about how he had ended up here. His mom had died 5 years ago, back when he was 11. His dad had done his best to keep Jed and himself together, but last year, his dad had been killed in the line of duty, protecting those who had killed him. When Jed opened the door and saw the cop standing there, he knew immediately what had happened. And he had m
Three Freinds Chapter 1Chapter 1: A Good Day
"Hey, Kid! STOP!" yelled the cop chasing him. Jed stole a glance over his shoulder at the cop and grinned, as its the same one he always got on his tail. there's no way he's gonna catch ME, he thought as he half ran up a wall taking a corner. Luckily, it saved him from knocking down an old woman, as he just ran over her, but it did slow him down some.
No matter. He put on a little extra speed as he came to the stairs in front of city hall, Easily a couple hundred steps long, and without missing a step, jumped up and slid down the rail like a skater. I REALLY like these shoes he thought as he slid down the rail, the carved out part of his shoes keeping him from falling, the incredibly slick inner coating allowing him to ride down the rail faster than anyone could possibly run. As soon as he got to the bottom, He did a quick flip off the end, and landed in a crouch, looking over his shoulder.
The cops were just standing there watching. He gave a jaunty wave, and das
Myrmarch's Tail: Chapter 8Chapter 8: Lucky Break
--Authors Note: Yes, I am entitled to have one of these. I would just like to note that incase you hadn't noticed before, the charachters names are pronounced as follows: Myrmarch: Mer (like merfolk) march. Amariel: (this ones long) Ah-mar-ee-el. Thank you and enjoy the chapter please.
The screams echoed madly through the dungeon, just barely drowning out the creul laughter, but only just. Myr gasped hoarsely as the scream broke off, his back still arched at the pain that had lanced through his body. Valkien grimaced at the cat man before turning away, all of Myrs muscles suddenly going slack. Valkien called out and instantly a pair of Baa'tazu appeared, casuing an involuntary whimper from Myr. Ignoring this sound, they pulled his burnt and beaten form from the magical bonds and dragged him from the chamber. The sorcerers silver eyes followed them until they had rounded a corner. He turned to a hobgoblin that had just arrived. "Next." The 'gob' bowed and scuttled
Myrmarch's Tail Chapter 7Myrmarch trusted Amariel as they spoke to each other in his dreams that night, and soon they had become very close friends. It didn't take them long to teach other different modes of communication, so they could speak outside of his dreams, Myr teaching her trills, she teaching him thought speech. They improved their skill in both by playing thinking games, their favorite being what they called "break-out". They would take turns, coming up with a plan to escape the dungeon, the other shooting holes in it with what they new of the Sorcerer and his defenses.
It was during one of these games, untold amounts of time after Myr's first torture session, that they finally came upon a plan that neither could refute, nor even damage with anything they knew. It was perfect, and all they needed was a bit of luck.
Myr sighed and projected his mental voice to her. It was tinged with resignation,. :k, so
Chapter 6: Of Cats and DragonsMyr slammed into the back of his cage before slumping to the floor, the stench of burnt hair and tortured flesh permeating the area around him. He groaned as the door was slammed shut, narrowly missing his tail, and tried to drag himself to a sitting position. After several failed attempts, he managed, and hung his head between his knees.
The torture had begun soon after he had heard the name Valkien, and it was not a name he was soon to forget. The scars he bore would show his ordeal to the world no matter where he went, and he cursed them, before cursing the demons, the dungeon, the enchanted cages, the sorcerer himself. This done, he lacked the energy to even lie down as he slipped into unconsciousness.
Amariel sat quietly and watched the cat warrior. She had been watching him for some time, sifting through his thoughts and his memories, weighing his actions. Even before she had started this, she had known that he was different from anyone else in these caves, the farmers, the black
Chapter 5: Valkien's Dungeon"Come along Myrmarch! It's time for dinner!"
"Aww, c'mon mom! Five more minutes!" his mom laughed.
"What are you doing now? Saving the village from the drove beasts again? Or is it the dragons princess?" He could tell by the soft rasp in her voice she was purring as she hunted for him in the bushes.
"Look out Mom! There's a cave troll!" he cried out before letting out a roar and pouncing past his mom into the bushes. He popped his head out and grinned at her, and she grinned back, until a voice called from the village.
"Rahksa! Myrmarch! Hurry! The hunters are returning!" It was Beski, one of the older boys in the village. News of the hunters returning early meant one of two things, they had gotten lucky and taken down big game not far from the village, or there had been a disaster. Either way it was enough to send both Myr and his mom running back to the village. They arrived just at the same time as the hunters, and in plenty of time to see the sled they had made to haul the bear bac
